BLACK SLATE GRATALLOPS
Grapes are handpicked and organic, aged in French and American oak barrels for 20 months
The inspiration for this wine is a Burgundian concept of village nomenclature, applied to the Priorat – one region, nine historical villages. The village of Gratallops, in the heart of Priorat, is the most prominent in the region, home of the most preeminent, broad and robust wines of the DOCa. This wine is rich with vanilla and black fruit notes. A fruity and powerful wine with an extremely long, spicy finish.

LA CONRERIA D’SCALA DEI
Founded in 1997 by three friends– a priest, a teacher and a winemaker– this bodega is named after the 12th century Cartoixa d’Escaladei, a Carthusian Monastery now in ruins located in the nearby village of Scala Dei– which translates as the Ladder of God.
The very talented and energetic Jordi Vila is the winemaker and the driving force behind the project. He fell in love with Priorat while studying viticulture and oenology in nearby Falset and has the utmost respect for the region and its rich winemaking history. They own and lease about 25 hectares, the majority of them with vines over 30 years of age including some up to 80 years old.
